Those, who have enjoyed our classic Modolo shape, now have the option, to use our new swept back middle part. With deep drops. The 5° backsweep makes for a compact and aerodynamic position. Our TLO series is manufactured to suit your weight and riding style using the best carbon fibre prepeg available (material). This, together with a further refined layering plan with less layers, results in yet another reduction of weight. The middle part of the handlebar is designed to work without the support of an aluminium tube. The effective diameter is 25.9 mm, hence stems from 25.8 mm to 26 mm clamping diameter may be used. All our handlebars are designed to work with 4-bolt stems. These thin walled handlebars may be completed with our custom made oversize carbon bar plugs. Ordering Keep in mind that we measure our road bars from the outside to the outside. Our handlebars as standard are not made to be used with triathlon or time trial bars. If you want to use one of our bars with aero bars, please say so when placing the order. The necessary strengthening will add some 8 g to the bar’s weight (compare special handlebars). For our 25.9 mm handlebar we recommend the Ritchey WCS stem with titanium screws (98 g/110 mm) or the stiffer, albeit slightly heavier, Tune stem. If you want us to ship either of these together your handlebar add $70 for the Ritchey or $190 for the Tune stem. For an extra $22 we will add 6 titanium screws for the Ritchey stem. If desired, we can also custom make your bar with long ends. All our bars may be shortened at their ends by 10 mm. Trade customers, as a rule, are supplied with standard bars, that’s no time trial bar reinforcement and short bar ends. Fitting Mount the bar with the lower straight parallel to the floor. Tighten the stem bolts with a maximum torque of 5 Nm (not over 3.5 Nm with a Syntace F99 stem)! If you use our fitting paste supplied, the particles it contains will increase friction between bar and stem. A torque lower by 1.5 Nm will suffice to clamp the bar. This brings the recommended torque down to 3.5 Nm, which will reduce the forces on the bar. All torque figures are for greased bolts only. For dry bolts add 1 Nm to the recommended figures. The bars are reinforced in the areas where the shifters sit, hence the levers’ bandages may be tightened with up to 4 Nm. Use our mounting paste again!

Remember those great Belleri Porteur bars from France? Of course Belleri is long out of business, but those handlebars are still sought-after. So, Velo-Orange decided to make their own Porteur bars. They are 480mm wide; reach is 140mm. The grip area is about 130mm, and they have about 15mm of rise or drop. The clamp area is 25.4mm. The quality and polishing are very nice. The transition from the grip to the curve on the originals was a bit abrupt; The Velo-Orange version has a gentler transition. The curves on both versions are fuller and, we think, prettier than the somewhat similar Champs Elysées bars used on the old Herse bikes. These bars are available in two tubing diameters, 23.8mm road-sized and 22.2mm mountain bike-sized (clamp area is 25.4mm on both): - 22.2mm diameter (MTB-size) bars accept MTB brake levers and clamp-on shifters. They do not work with bar-end shifters. The only inverse levers that work are Dia Compe levers in the 22.2mm size. - 23.8mm diameter (road-size) bars accept standard inverse brake levers, standard bar end shifters, and 23.8mm city brake levers. In short, anything made for road bars fits. They do not accept MTB levers or shifters.
