Details
Continental's Grand Prix 4000 S II boasts Conti's Black Chili rubber compound for low rolling resistance, impressive traction and long wear, making for one of the fastest tires in the peloton. The GP 4000 S II also uses a tough Vectran sub-tread for exceptional puncture protection, while the 330-tpi casing delivers a velvety-smooth ride. If you're looking for the ultimate road tire, you've found it.

Vectran Breaker is a synthetic fiber based on the natural model of spider silk. Processed into a multi-strand thread, it's lighter, more flexible and protects more efficiently against cuts than a comparable nylon layer. It also does not affect the tire's rolling resistance.

I had a sidewall cut (1cm) on the first ride out (New York City streets). OK, so that was NYC. The back tire blew out yesterday, sounding like a gunshot while riding on a rail trail as smooth as glass. These tires will let you down. My bike - Trek Domane

Comments:
Front and rear cut through under 500km. Soft material picked up 2 metal punctures as well. Always riding with friends on same terrain that had no issues with other brands which are mostly stock tires. Major disappoint on Gran Fondo rice with cut through occurring among the pack. No other flats by 45+ other bikes in this section. For this price...Bye bye Continental

this tire is $12 cheaper on the low end and $16 on the high end at MEC, thats enough to add a couple new or spare tubes to go with it.

After running Maxxis for years, I finally crossed back over to Contis. The GP 4000s are the best tires ever!
